Join Deb and Claire as we discuss the third spoke in the Wheel of the Year – Imbolc. Imbolc occurs in the Northern Hemisphere this year on Monday, February 2. Imbolc, a cross-quarter day which means "in the belly" is the quickening time of the year, when life is stirring below the surface of the earth, and Mother Earth is beginning to awaken. The Wheel of the Year is an ever-spinning progression of eight primary holy days in the calendar, four of which are Solar holidays and honor the solstices and spring and autumn equinox. The other four holidays are referred to as Cross-quarter days, and spin on the wheel alternately between the solstice and equinox days. In this course you’ll learn:- What Imbolc means to us today
- The historical and cultural significance of Imbolc
- Symbols, lore, and legends of the holiday and how they came to be
- How the holiday shares symbols and beliefs with many other world cultures and belief systems
- The significance of those symbols and what they mean to you today.
- Ways to create Imbolc rituals and altars and work with crystals and oils of the season
- How to create crafts of the holiday!
